On this week’s installment of the G4 online poker reality show “2 Months, $2 Million,” the cast opened boot camp, taking on four students for $7,500 each. In the end, the group earned $106,000 for the week. The show airs on Wednesdays at 8:00pm ET.
The episode began in the desert, with Emil Patel refusing to ride a dune buggy. Housemate Dani Stern explained the reason: “He didn’t want to get sand in his eyes.” Brian Roberts attempted to spray sand on Patel using his dune buggy, but ultimately became stuck. Entering the sixth week of “2 Months, $2 Million,” the team was up a scant $35,000 total. Roberts noted, “We haven’t been playing super high. Something has to be done.”
Rather than play big, the “2 Months, $2 Million” cast sought to extend their poker skills to others through training. Jay Rosenkrantz told G4 cameras, “Everyone needs to re-center, so hopefully a little bit of teaching will bring everyone back to Earth.” Stern elaborated, “Teaching other people how to play, in many ways, helps your own game. Even though we’re helping out the other guys, it definitely is going to help us get back on track.”
Four boot campers turned out at the Las Vegas “2 Months, $2 Million” home. Harry “UgotaBanana” Kaczka is 18 years-old and just graduated high school. He also dropped $100,000 the day before filming started and seemed to have a chip on his shoulder throughout the episode. Also making the trip were Dave “NLsoldier” Schnettler, Russian-born Wladimir “insyder19” Taschner, and U.K. native Ben “pokiethepanda” Middleton. The group headed to the war room, where Kaczka’s woes continued, losing a $20,000 pot despite turning the nuts.
The “2 Months, $2 Million” team brought showed their protégés winning strategies of the game, while Middleton was brought into the Tilt Room to release aggression on several watermelons. After a hard day’s work, the cast hit the town, but rented a party bus since Kaczka is underage. Everyone but Kaczka partied at Blush at the Wynn, while two women were dispatched to the bus to keep the lone minor company. Middleton, meanwhile, overcame reticence at the bar by dancing with several women. Patel explained, “Ben was shy at first, but he gained some confidence as the night moved on.”
Facing a decision of whether to go to college or focus his energy on poker, Kaczka sought the advice of Stern, who explained that the downswings in poker are often exceedingly rough. He noted, “Losing $100,000 hurts a lot more than winning $100,000 feels good.” For their final exam, each boot camper was paired with a “2 Months, $2 Million” cast member in heads-up matches. The loser of the single elimination series would be forced to undergo this week’s penalty stunt. In the end, Rosenkrantz and Middleton succumbed to Patel and Wladimir. Their punishment was dressing up as conjoined twins and doing the hula-hoop on the Las Vegas Strip for tips.
Kaczka told “2 Months, $2 Million” cameras, “I’m definitely glad I came. It was a good experience. It was a lot of fun. I’m excited about No Limit again.” Middleton explained the importance of receiving coaching: “Just by correcting a few mistakes in poker could earn me lots and lots of money.” Taschner remarked, “Especially Brian… Everyone wants him as a coach. Besides Phil Ivey… But Phil Ivey doesn’t coach.” Ivey is a member of this year’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event November Nine.
For the week, Stern was up $19,000, Roberts was up $25,000, Patel was up $10,400, and Rosenkrantz was up $21,600. Each also received $7,500 for conducting boot camp, leaving the crew up $106,000 collectively. Overall, the team is up just $141,600 after six weeks, leaving them well off pace for the $2 million goal. Next week’s preview reveals, “When luck’s not being a lady, can the guys find a lady to be lucky with? Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger returns to the show.
“2 Months, $2 Million” airs on Wednesdays at 8:00pm ET on G4.
