Foxwoods Casino will be hosting a reunion of the 2010 WSOP November Nine this coming February at the Mega Stack Challenge, which kicks off on Friday, February 4th and runs through Saturday, February 13th, 2011.
Foxwoods Casino spokesperson and ESPN personality Bernard Lee breaks the news on our news maker hotline exclusively at Poker News Daily.
“The 2010 will be reuniting at the Foxwoods Mega Stack in February. They will all be hosting the event, from Feb 4th to the 13th which is when our Mega Stacks event will be held. But, more exciting is that there will be a reunion event specifically on February 8th where all nine players will be playing versus some of the casino players… it’ll be a three table tournament that will include all of these players,” started Lee.
When asked about how he went about facilitating the event and securing the players, some of which come from Canada and Italy, Lee explained he’s been working the players for quite a while, “Well, the fortunate thing is that we have a scenario where you don’t have any other major event that is going on at that time … I’m very fortunate working for ESPN and having my own radio show I have personally spoken with every one of these players at least two times or three times … prior to the main event. I knew them all somewhat on a personal level, I knew some of their agents as well, so it definitely wasn’t a process of just sending out an Evite and they all sent it back. I would definitely say I put the bug in their ear fairly early on and during the November Nine and they all agreed.”
The November Nine reunion event will take place in the tournament area for the general public to watch. Players that participate in the events will go through a selection process (see the Foxwoods Casino website or call their poker room for more details) to participate. The Mega Stack Challenge kicks off on February 4th with a $600 No-Limit Hold’em $75,000 Guaranteed event. The Main Event of the series will take place on Saturday, February 11th at 11am EST and will be played as a $1,200 No-Limit Hold’em $150,000 Guaranteed tournament that will be played over two days.
The 2010 November Nine consisted of Soi Nguyen, John Dolan, Jason Senti, Matthew Jarvis, Filippo Candio, Michael Mizrachi, Joseph Cheong John Racener and champion Jonathan Duhamel.
