2024 WSOP table and chips

100 gold bracelet events

GGPoker has released the schedule for the 2025 World Series of Poker, the first edition of the classic poker series under the online poker room’s ownership. Running May 27 through July 16, the WSOP will span 100 events at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip.

The action kicks off with what has quickly become one of the most popular events on the schedule: $1,000 Mystery Millions. The tournament has five Day 1 flights, a first prize of at least $1 million, and a top bounty of $1 million.

Also on opening day is the traditional $500 Industry Employees No-Limit Hold’em event, tweaked slightly from its previous name, the “Casino” Employees event.

Main Event at the end

Naturally, what many poker fans want to know about is the 2025 WSOP Main Event. As usual, it kicks off in early July and goes for about two weeks, specifically July 2 through July 16.

There are four Main Event Day 1 flights, one each day July 2-5. Day 2ABC, which is for the surviving players from Day 1A, Day 1B, and Day 1C, will be on July 6, while Day 2D will be held by itself on July 7, as Day 1D (and thus Day 2D) is always the largest Main Event flight.

On July 8, all remaining players will combine into a single field for Day 3 and from there, the tournament will go straight through Day 8 on July 13, when the field will be narrowed to just nine players. The next day will be a day off (though there are still other WSOP tourneys going on during the Main Event) and then the Main Event final table will begin the first of its two days on July 15.

It should be interesting to see if the Main Event can continue its streak of record-breaking fields. The last two WSOP Main Events smashed through the 10,000-player barrier, with last year’s field just beating out that of 2023 for the largest in history at 10,112. Jonathan Tamayo emerged as the 2024 WSOP Main Event champ, defeating Jordan Griff heads-up for the $10 million first prize.

Six new tournaments

Of the hundred gold bracelet events, six are new to the schedule this year. They are, in chronological order:

Event #14: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha / No-Limit Hold’em

Event #24: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot

Event #59: $1,000 Battle of the Ages No-Limit Hold’em

Event #79: $100,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha

Event #87: $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em

Event #93: $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. (T = 2-7 Fixed-Limit Triple Draw)

The event from the above list that probably stands out to most people is Event #59: $1,000 Battle of the Ages No-Limit Hold’em. It’s not quite as interesting as it sounds, but it’s still a fun concept. The event has two Day 1 flights. The first is for players aged 50 and over, while the second is for those under 50. The survivors from the two flights will combine for Day 2. Which Day 1 will attract the larger field?
