2015 is now upon us and it is time for the online poker sites to renew the battles that they have built over the years. Later this month, PokerStars will unveil the latest version of one of their more popular tournament schedules.
The 4th Annual PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) will take place from January 22 to February 1 on the #1 site in the online poker industry. 50 events will make up the schedule, with $15 million in guaranteed prize pools for the participants. From a look at the schedule, there should be something for everyone’s tastes when it comes to the disciplines of poker covered.
The TCOOP kicks off the action with a $27 Six-Max No Limit Hold’em tournament with a massive $500,000 prize pool guaranteed on the opening day of the schedule. The tournament features a re-entry element and, with the normally fast-paced nature of six-handed games multiplied by the turbo format, should be a rapid-fire battle for all participants. On January 24, two tournaments will be under the spotlight as a $215 NLHE Turbo Zoom Poker event (with re-entry) takes the stage with its $400,000 guaranteed pool and, later in the day, a $215 $250,000 Guaranteed Heads Up NLHE tournament will garner some attention.
On January 29, Event #35, the $82 Four-Max Pot Limit Omaha tournament (with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool) will take place and the chips are sure to be flying for that battle. January 31 features a $215 H.O.R.S.E. tournament ($50,000 guaranteed) and a $215 Heads Up “Super Knockout” Pot Limit Omaha event ($125,000 guaranteed). The final day of the tournament, February 1, will feature the two main attractions for the TCOP schedule, the $320 8-Game Mixed Event (with a $100,000 guarantee) and the $700 No Limit Hold’em Main Event, featuring a $2 million guaranteed prize pool that will pay the eventual champion at least a $300,000 prize.
It can be counted on that the Team PokerStars Pros will be out in force for the tournament. Poker Triple Crown winner Jake Cody commented about the TCOOP, (It’s) an awesome series because the tournament are so quick and varied – you don’t have to be up all night to win some huge money and the range of formats and game choices is so diverse.”
Fellow Team PokerStars Pro member Mickey Petersen echoed Cody’s statement in saying, “I love how most of the events won’t take more than a couple of hours to complete and they are perfect to play on a tablet (computer).” Petersen also offered some suggestions to those stepping into the TCOOP battleground, stating, “Turbo tournaments require a different set of skills compared to other tournament series…they also provide constant action.”
For those that excel during the 50 tournaments on the TCOOP schedule, there will also be special awards. A Player of the Series leaderboard will be kept, with the players earning points for every cash in an event played. The eventual winner of the Player of the Series title will walk away with a special Champion’s Trophy and a $10,300 ticket to the Main Event of the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). Second place receives a $5200 into a SCOOP event, while third through fifth places earn a $2100 SCOOP ticket. Sixth through tenth will get tickets to the mid-level SCOOP Main Event (a $1050 entry) while eleventh through 100th places get into the low-level SCOOP Main Event (a $109 ticket).
Satellites are running at this time, starting as low as $.11 or even just 1 Frequent Player Point (FPP) for entry. If someone is able to work their way through those satellite sessions, the payoff could be tremendous.
The Turbo Championship of Online Poker should provide a great deal of excitement when it starts its run on January 22. For a full look at the schedule, be sure to visit the dedicated PokerStars TCOOP page.
