Wednesday’s internet gambling hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee features a “who’s who” of Congressmen that have had an impact on internet gambling, including gambling champion Barney Frank (D-MA) and UIGEA endorser Bob Goodlatte (R-VA). The hearing discussed various tax proposals related to internet gambling. And since taxes were discussed, there were two representatives from the Internal Revenue Service. The final panelist for Wednesday’s Ways and Means Committee hearing is Charles Steele, Deputy Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network for the United States Department of the Treasury.

Over the weekend, poker veteran Freddy Deeb took down the twenty thousand Euro buy-in High Roller event at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris. For his victory, Deeb won two hundred and ninety thousand Euro, which takes his total live tournament career winnings above the $7 million dollar mark. Twenty-five players entered the exclusive, nosebleed event, but it came down to a two-horse race between Deeb and online star Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, who had to settle for “only” one hundred and twenty thousand Euro. Mizzi is a sponsored pro of Titan Poker.
On Tuesday morning, May 2006 Playboy Playmate Alison Waite hosted a Twitter chat to promote the World Poker Tour’s new Facebook app. Alison claims she loves poker because it doesn’t require athletic skills, and is definitely in favor of beautiful women promoting the game: “Poker is exciting and can be sexy, so why not have Playmates? It’s a no-brainer to have an enticing Playboy playmate promoting your site.”
Waite is also the hostess of ClubWPT, the World Poker Tour’s subscription-based online poker site. Other Playmates in poker you might recognize include Victory Poker’s Sara Jean Underwood and PokerStars’ Jayde Nicole.
