Hailing from London, England, Praz Bansi found poker in 2005 after watching a friend win $50K in one sitting. Working as a recruitment consultant at the time, he downloaded poker software on his office computer and started teaching himself the game.
In 2006, with enough money and the confidence to go with it, Bansi headed for Las Vegas and the World Series of Poker. After recording a cash in his first tournament, he went on to win a $1000 No Limit Hold’em event for $230K. A few months later in early 2007 he was at it again, this time shipping the $1000 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour event in Bolton for $145.5K.
Following a string of near misses and smaller wins in 2008, Bansi returned to form in 2009, winning the $5000 Seventh Annual Five Star World Poker Classic for $133K. He then recorded what still stands as his biggest score, taking third place in the $10K No Limit Hold’em World Series of Poker Europe Main Event for a whopping $595K.
More recently, Bansi got off to a good start in 2010 by winning his second WSOP bracelet in a $1500 No Limit Hold’em event for $515K. In a video interview following the win, he expressed his pride at hearing ‘God Save the Queen’ at his bracelet ceremony and profusely thanked his family and friends for their support and encouragement through both the good times and bad. All told, Bansi has over $2.5 million in live tournament earnings.
When he’s not traveling the live tournament circuit, Praz Bansi can be found playing online at Full Tilt Poker where he is a sponsored pro. Away from the tables, he enjoys socializing with friends, working out at the gym, and watching soccer games.
