On November 10th, the 18th running of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, or FTOPS, will kick off on the world’s second largest site. Once again, Full Tilt Poker will host 34 FTOPS tournaments, culminating in a $640 buy-in Main Event on November 21st that will shell out at least $3 million.
All told, Full Tilt is guaranteeing over $19 million in the latest installment of FTOPS. On November 10th, the action in FTOPS XVIII gets underway with a $216 No Limit Hold’em tournament that has a guarantee of $800,000. During FTOPS XVII, which ran throughout the month of August, 4,591 players turned out for the kickoff event to create a prize pool approaching $1 million. Brent “Broberts85” Roberts was the champion of the first tournament and pulled down $164,000. Also running deep was poker pro Lee Watkinson, who bubbled the final table and took 13th place for $5,000.
FTOPS XVIII marks the third straight time that the Main Event will carry a $640 buy-in. Prior to FTOPS XVI, the feature contest had a price tag of $535. Last time out, “TyboVegas” took down the Main Event for $423,000 following a heads-up chop with “DQnk,” who banked $447,000. The field numbered 4,805, meaning that an overlay of more than $100,000 was up for grabs. Since the Main Event buy-in switched to $640, the tournament has never met its guarantee.
Poker games of every size and shape will take place during FTOPS XVIII. Four events – #14, #20, #25, and #28 – are not yet detailed on Full Tilt’s website. Poker News Daily has learned that at least one of the four is an event that’s never been spread on any other online poker site. In addition, seven FTOPS XVIII tournaments will take on a Rush Poker format, while Cashout tournaments have disappeared from the schedule entirely.
