Thursday marked a slow day in the sixth UB.com Online Championship, or UBOC. Only one tournament was held, a $163 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack event (#11) that offered up a $75,000 guaranteed prize pool. The contest drew a field of 626 players and, when the last river card had been dealt, PWNOOBS walked away with the title.
PWNOOBS collected a $22,000 paycheck for his victory and led the 63 in the money finishers. Heads-up, he defeated one of the top minds in all of poker, Jeremy “DUHDUHDAISY” Fitzpatrick. The South Carolina native sits at #52 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Rankings and is a two-time online poker Triple Crown winner. In August, he took down his first UBOC title by defeating the competition in a $1,050 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max tournament for $134,000 and came within inches of another one on Thursday night.
Another PocketFives.com Triple Crown winner, QUASSI, took the third spot on the Event #11 leaderboard. His finish was worth nearly $10,000 and he owns over $500,000 in lifetime online poker earnings. Fourth place in the $163 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack event went to COPUS, who banked $6,300.
SKYSTH3LIMIT landed in fifth place on the final leaderboard and pulled in $5,400 in prize money. He edged out Virginia’s BUSK9, who won the PokerStars $100 Rebuy last year for $36,000 and also recorded final tables in the Nightly Hundred Grand and Absolute Poker $150,000 Guaranteed. In late 2009, BUSK9 won the weekly UB.com $200,000 Guaranteed for $46,000.
New Jersey’s JRNUMBERS finished in seventh place in Thursday’s UBOC event for $3,200, while eighth place and $2,300 in cash went to Minnesota’s Troy “STRINGBENDR” Graphenteen. In February 2009, Graphenteen took second in the PokerStars Daily Eighty Grand Sunday Special for $20,000 and, last November, he won the site’s Nightly Seventy Grand for $13,000.
Rounding out the UBOC 6 Deep Stack final table was SKIPAWAY99, who pocketed $1,600:
1. PWNOOBS – $22,066.50
2. DUHDUHDAISY – $13,850.25
3. QUASSI – $9,390.00
4. COPUS – $6,338.25
5. SKYSTH3LIMIT – $5,399.25
6. BUSK9 – $4,225.50
7. JRNUMBERS – $3,286.50
8. STRINGBENDR – $2,347.50
9. SKIPAWAY99 – $1,643.25
As was the case on Thursday, there’s only one event on deck for today as part of the UBOC 6 festivities. At 20:05 ET tonight, look for a $162 Sniper No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournament featuring a $15 bounty on each player. If you enjoy playing poker with reality TV stars, then this tournament is not to be missed, as “Real World” diva and Absolute Poker pro Trishelle Cannatella will serve as its host.
UBOC 6 wraps up next Sunday, January 30th, with a $1,050 No Limit Hold’em Monster Stack Championship Event. New UB.com pro Prahlad Friedman will serve as the host of the finale, which is sure to draw some of the top players the internet poker world has to offer.
Don’t forget that UB.com and Absolute Poker, which together make up the CEREUS Network, happily take players from the United States.
