Brandon Cantu continues his interview on The Showdown, Episode 9, hosted by poker pro Jon Friedberg.

Turning the clock back to 2006 when Cantu first burst on the poker scene, he won a bracelet and his life was quickly changed. Cantu apparently enjoy the club and party scene after making his big score, but since then, has altered how he spends his free time.
“Life has changed, I’ve just calmed down and I like it. I wouldn’t change it in any way. If you don’t get your partying out when you are younger, you’re going to want to do it when you are older. It’s funny, I know it’s not a long time but I’ve been married for three months and I never want to leave the house again. I’m the biggest homebody and it’s all changed and I never even want to see my friends again (laughing).”
Friedberg then asks Cantu if he ever thought about back in 2006 if just four years later he would be a domesticated man, married, with a child on the way. Cantu responded, “I didn’t think it would be so soon and I’m coming on 30 in a few months. I thought I would be around 32 to 33 kind of guy and I was very immature when I was 24. But when you have a baby on the way you mature real fast, at least, you’re supposed to.”
With the changes in his life, Friedberg makes an excellent observation – will Cantu’s erratic and unpredictable game suddenly become more conservative? Cantu said, “I don’t think I am playing different because of the married life. I’d be a terrible thing, but I think I have tightened up because I’m just adjusting to the game. I don’t think it has anything to do with the married life.”
