This week Brandon Cantu is the guest for The Showdown, starring Jon Friedberg.

To start the show, Friedberg extends his best wishes for Chad Brown. He’s been recently diagnosed with cancer and had a ten pound tumor removed from his mid-section. Friedberg said, “I honestly feel that Chad is one of, if not the, nicest guys in poker and it’s terrible news that this has happened to him. But on behalf of myself and all my viewers we wish him the best.”
Getting to Twitter, there’s been a lot of controversy this week, especially when it comes to John Racener and Sorel Mizzi. Apparently, the two were playing heads up Chinese poker after a few drinks and according to Racener, Mizzi cheated by dealing a Joker from the bottom of the deck.
Friedberg says, “Obviously there’s a lot of ethical issues that have come up with Mizzi over the last few years. Racener on the other hand doesn’t have any sort of checkered past when it comes to cheating but he does have multiple DUIs, making him not the most responsible of people in the world.” Friedberg hopes it’s all a misunderstanding between the two and it’s yet another “kick in the balls” for the industry of poker.
On the “VoteDown” segment, last week Friedberg asked the audience if they feel that sunglasses should be allowed at the table. The overwhelming opinion from the viewers is that – yes, they should be allowed. Friedberg feels that there are ways to use sunglasses to cheat, as special sunglasses could be used to see marks on cards invisible to the naked eye.

This week’s guest is UB.com pro Brandon Cantu. His life has recently changed as he’s gotten married and is now expecting his first child. Cantu talked about his wedding and what being married is like while being a poker pro. Cantu feels that having a family has made him a much more serious poker player.
