Online poker room Full Tilt Poker will be hosting a live poker series in the Montreal area this fall. The Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival will feature 17 events over two weeks beginning September 21st.
Unlike the company’s signature online series, the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS), which spreads virtually every game imaginable, the Montreal Festival will consist of mostly No-Limit Hold’em games. There are a couple Omaha events, but the vast, vast majority are No-Limit Hold’em, with some variation in that category (re-buy, deepstack, and the like). Buy-ins range from $50 + $10 to $200 + $20 for all of the tournaments except the Main Event, which will cost $1,000 + $100.
Speaking of the Main Event, Full Tilt is guaranteeing a C$1 million (yes, keep in mind that all dollars are Canadian dollars) prize pool. It will be a re-entry event with three starting flights, meaning that anyone eliminated on Day 1A or 1B can try again for the cost of another buy-in on a subsequent day. Those knocked out on Day 1C are out of luck, literally and figuratively.
Full Tilt Poker will be running qualifiers for the Montreal Festival Main Event on its site every Sunday. The immediate qualifier will be held at 7:00pm ET on those days and will cost $100 + $9 to enter directly. As one would expect from Full Tilt, there are also a multitude of satellites to the $109 qualifier with prices starting as low as 55 cents.
Those who qualify online will get some additional perks at the Montreal Festival, such as a Full Tilt swag bag. They will also be able to opt-in to special promotions and contests, such as the $25,000 Second Barrel Freeroll. In this promotion, anyone busting out of the Main Event or one of a select list of other events will receive a ticket into an exclusive $25,000 online freeroll tournament to be held on October 13th. Players can receive a ticket for being knocked out of each applicable tournament and use them all in the freeroll, as it is a multi-entry tourney.
Anyone who qualifies online and makes it to the Main Event final table will receive a custom jacket and if the winner is a qualifier, he or she will be awarded a custom Full Tilt poker avatar.
The Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake will serve as the host venue for the Montreal Festival. The club is located about 20 minutes south of downtown Montreal.
