As expected, Day 1C of the 2013 World Poker Tour (WPT) Prague Main Event was much larger than either of the other two starting flights. In fact, it was larger than both combined. Working backwards from the end total and taking into account those who registered prior to the start of Wednesday’s Day 2, it appears that 181 players signed up for Day 1C, dwarfing the 40 and 73 runners that played on Days 1A and 1B, respectively. About half of the Day 1C players – 92 – made it through to Day 2, where they comprise the bulk of the 157-survivor field.
Kuljinder Singh Sidhu emerged as the Day 1C chip leader, just barely coming out ahead of a packed group at the top of the leaderboard. With 133,200, he is not very far ahead of the second place Ryan Spittles, who has 125,400, or the third place Tim Reilly, holding 124,000 chips. After them, Adrian Diaz (118,300), Andrea Benelli (117,300), Kacper Pyzara (113,700), Guillaume Rivet (111,000), and Fabrice Soulier (110,000) all were within easy striking distance of the top. Three more players had over 100,000 chips.
Day 2 has already started, and with a dozen more late entrants, the total field (counting eliminated players) grew to 306, creating a prize pool of €881,555. First place will win €206,230 and a total of 36 players will make the money. Here’s a look at the entire payout structure:
1st – €206,230 (includes a seat in the WPT World Championship)
2nd – €135,000
3rd – €85,000
4th – €63,000
5th – €47,000
6th – €38,000
7th – €32,000
8th – €25,000
9th – €18,125
10th-12th – €14,000
13th – 15th – €11,900
16th – 18th – €10,000
19th – 21st – €8,800
22nd – 24th – €7,800
25th – 27th – €6,900
28th – 36th – €6,000
Of the 157 players who made to Wednesday, the Day 1A top stack, Vasili Firsau, is the chip leader, while Day 1B’s big dog, Jason Duval, is second. Sidhu doesn’t appear on the leaderboard until the fifth spot, a bit unusual considering there were many more chips in play on Day 1C than on the other opening days.
As already mentioned, the cards have already been dealt on Day 2 of the WPT Prague Main Event. As it didn’t start until 2:00pm local time, expect a late night as the players weave their way towards the money.
