Four out of five doctors have determined that watching bad television will cause a drop in the ability for rational thought. As such, allow us at Poker News Daily to take on this issue as, with the proper treatments, we can recover!
After a week which saw the loyalties of her alliance tested as well as herself, poker professional Vanessa Rousso stood tall as the Head of Household while her alliance took over the numerical lead on the CBS reality television program Big Brother.
After the elimination of Audrey last Thursday, the Rousso Alliance (also called the “Sixth Sense”) was one step away from being at full power in the Big Brother household. That possibility moved even closer to reality as Rousso joined Jackie as the two potential Heads of Households. The ensuing few days would prove to be a test for Rousso and her partners in the group.
One of the major components of the Rousso Alliance, the professional wrestler Austin, committed several faux pas that had the other members of the Rousso group wondering if it was worth it to continue on with him in the group. After Rousso’s group won the “Battle of the Block” (after not informing alliance member Liz that they were going to throw the battle), suddenly Clay (another member of the alliance) and Becky, who wasn’t even on the radar of the group and had been nominated by Jackie, were the two houseguests up for elimination.
Faced with a difficult choice, Rousso had to hope that Clay would win the “Power of Veto” competition to be able to save himself from potential elimination. On Wednesday night’s episode, Clay was able to do exactly that and remove himself from potential elimination. Now Rousso was faced with another dilemma: who would take Clay’s place.
Austin, after his errors over the course of the week, was the choice of many, but the Rousso Alliance talked the issue through amongst each other and determined that the game was still too important to toss the wrestler out of the ring. Instead, Rousso went against her word to Jackie and others (in that Austin would be nominated for Clay’s place) and nominated Jason, who was their de facto leader as the most knowledgeable about the Big Brother program and what to expect during the time in the Big Brother house.
Although there was a campaign from Jason throughout Thursday’s episode to oust Becky from the game, it wasn’t to be. By a vote of 7-2, Jason was sent home with every member of the Rousso Alliance (save for Rousso, who couldn’t vote as Head of Household) joining Steve, John and Jackie to vote him out. Only James and Meg, two close friends of Jason, stood up for him in the voting room.
With the ouster of Jason, two things have come to fruition for the Rousso Alliance. After 43 days of play and five eliminations, Liz’s twin sister Julia has now joined the household as a sixth member of the group. By reaching that number, they also are the largest alliance in the household, with James, Meg and Jackie forming a second group (lacking solid leadership) and Becky, John and Steve as singular “rovers” that haven’t joined a group yet.
Although there are cracks showing in the Rousso Alliance, the changes announced on the program Thursday night will make it difficult for them to totally dominate the game. From now on, there will only be one Head of Household nominated, thus making it imperative that a member of the Rousso Alliance wins the weekly HoH competition to ensure that two of the opposition members go on the eviction block. Should the Rousso Alliance not hold the power seat in the Big Brother house for any extended period – or should there be a fracture in the Rousso Alliance that blows it apart – then the game is wide open.
Rousso herself seemed exhausted by the entire week. “This week I was faced with some of the most difficult decisions that I have encountered in years,” she wrote over the Head of Household blog on the CBS website. “This is, by far, the most difficult thing that I have ever tackled, but I am growing stronger every day and know that I will come out on the other side with a more complete perspective about who I am and a more evolved insight into what is important in life.”
