OK, back to the same old, same old – please, to maintain your sanity and that of the friends that surround you, do not watch bad television! We’ll do that for you!
While she is constantly being hailed as one of the smarter players in the game, poker professional Vanessa Rousso is walking an ever-thinning tightrope on the CBS reality program Big Brother. That “walking on the cliff” style is putting the poker pro in a dangerous predicament as one of the most targeted members of the Big Brother household.
Over the past week, Rousso was in constant fear that she was the target of a backdoor attempt. After the “double elimination” night of last Thursday, Steve’s tenure as Head of Household lasted all of an hour as a new HoH was crowned. The winner of that competition was Liz, who is a part of the Rousso-led “Sixth Sense” Alliance that has (off and on) had a significant hand in the game around the house. Rousso naturally believed that she was safe because of the ascension of her Alliance-mate to the position of power in the house, but it turns out that Rousso is in more danger than she understands.
The other three surviving members of the “Sixth Sense” – Liz, her twin sister Julia and Liz’s in-house crush Austin – have seemingly joined forces, somehow not letting on to Rousso that this has occurred and that the “Sixth Sense” is all but dead. After Liz nominated Becky and John for elimination, both of the nominees told the trio of the manipulations performed by Rousso, even to the point of machinations against Austin and the twins. With this in mind, Liz began to think of the possibility of backdooring Rousso to get her out of the game.
Liz would solidify her position of power in the Big Brother house by winning the Power of Veto competition, putting her in complete control of what would happen on elimination night. After debating the issue with her sister and Austin, Liz determined that keeping Rousso around would provide a bigger target and potentially allow her, Julia and Austin to go deeper in the program’s competition. With this logic in mind, Liz chose not to exercise the Power of Veto and it was either Becky or John who would hit the door.
Once the houseguests got in the ballot room, it was a bloodbath. Becky, who had been much more open about her game than John has been (sneaky is a good word for John), was unanimously voted out of the Big Brother house.
Over the next week, the competition is going to get more intense and Rousso is going to be targeted for eviction, if not this week then the next (barring a return by Rousso to the HoH room). The crowning of a new Head of Household was a basic physical challenge – a footrace that eliminated the last place finisher of each heat – that was easily won by Austin. With the professional wrestler in the driver’s seat, he has plenty of choices if he wants to make a strong move in the game.
First off, the twins are off-limits as Austin is in an alliance with them. Keeping Rousso and the “Sixth Sense” group alive (albeit on life support) gives potential opponents a target other than him or the twins. The two strongest players in the house outside of their group are James and John, but both Steve and Meg have been sneaky good in staying in the shadows to advance this far. It is completely logical to see James and Meg on the eviction block next Thursday night, but Steve isn’t out of the question either (John appears to be safe through a tenuous teaming with Liz, Julia and Austin) and then it comes down to the Power of Veto competition to see if that arrangement stays in effect.
Another unique Big Brother twist will take place after next week’s elimination. That person (whomever it is) will join the three previously eliminated players – Shelli, Jackie and Becky – in a special competition between the foursome. The victor of that competition will earn the right to re-enter the Big Brother compound, throwing more chaos into the mix, while the other three will return to the Jury House (it is the job of the Jury to vote on who will eventually win the competition).
The sands in the hourglass may be draining for Rousso as to her time in the Big Brother household. Her once-powerful Alliance is now scheming against her, the opposition is ready to target her and the person coming back from the Jury House will also have Rousso on their radar (none of the three people currently in the Jury House have had any good comments regarding Rousso). We may only have a couple more weeks of action out of poker’s Vanessa Rousso on Big Brother and its current season, but it’s been a good ride.
