On Monday, the World Poker Tour (WPT) released the full schedule for WPT Season XV which, even though the WPT Tournament of Champions just ended, is already underway. Seth Davies won the partypoker.net Canadian Spring Championship to open the season and Andjelko Andrejevic followed that up with a win at WPT Amsterdam. In all, there will be 20 tour stops for Season XV.
There are no new events on the schedule, but there is one new venue. WPT Caribbean, which will be held in November of this year, will be hosted by the Hard Rock Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
There will be an addition made to each and every tour stop, the WPT Festival Championship. This is sort of a mini tournament of champions, a tournament which is open only to the winners of the preliminary events at the respective WPT stop. The winner of the WPT Festival Championship will receive a free seat in that stop’s Main Event.
The World Poker Tour is also giving online players more flexibility when qualifying for live tournaments. With WPT Passport, online qualifiers who win $5,000 WPT tourney packages can choose which partypoker-sponsored event they wish to attend, rather than being locked into a specific event based on which qualifier they enter.
