With the Full Tilt Online Poker Series just completed and PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker ready to kick off, Ladbrokes announced the return of its major tournament series: the Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker (LEOCOP). This is the fourth time that Ladbrokes has run the LEOCOP, bringing in poker players from across Europe together to compete in high-stakes tournaments with money added to the prize pool. All of the action starts on Sunday, October 26th. The $1,000 Main Event occurs on Sunday, November 9th and is followed by a $120,000 Masters freeroll.
In a press release distributed on Thursday, Edward Ihre of Ladbrokes Poker stated, “We put a lot of emphasis on the importance of community and the LEOCOP is like our annual family gathering. It’s the one time you can guarantee that everyone will make an appearance.” The LEOCOP consists of 17 money-added tournaments. The Main Event is a $1,000 buy-in No Limit competition with $250,000 added to the prize pool. Pot Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha also appear on the LEOCOP schedule of events.
On November 22nd, about two weeks after the LEOCOP concludes, a Masters Event will take place. It is a $120,000 freeroll, by far one of the largest freerolls ever offered online. The invitation-only tournament will host the top 80 players based on the results of their play throughout the LEOCOP event series as determined by a LEOCOP leader board.
