Two PokerStars Pros have won the World Poker Open before: Humberto Brenes and Barry Greenstein. This tournament doesn’t have TV coverage, so it does not catch a lot of media buzz.
This year 126 players started in the tournament and there is a fierce battle for the $192K prize which is not the only prize the winner of the tournament will get, as the winner will also be awarded a $10K seat at the WPT event that will be held at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi in 2010. The payout structure will give out money prizes to the first 18 players.
The final table has been set and there are two PokerStars Pros in the chip lead. The 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker (of the legendary “Moneymaker Effect”) has the chip lead and holds a little over 40% of the total chips at the table. The other PokerStars Pro is Chad Brown and his chip stack is the second largest at the table: he holds a little over 17% of the chips that are at the table.
