Former EPT Prague champ Jordan Saccucci, a prime suspect in an Ontario burglary spree, somehow thought it was as good idea to show up to WSOP Paradise over the weekend. He played in Day 1B of the Main Event.
Saccucci did not make it through to Day 2, not because he was knocked out by an opponent, but because he was actually ejected from the property. According to PokerNews.com, Atlantis Paradise Island Casino made the decision that he was not welcome at the resort and the World Series of Poker had no problem with the decision.
The reason for the Saccucci’s removal was not made public, but one would think that it has to do with the charges he is currently facing in Canada and that he’s just not welcome at the property.
As we reported previously, the Halton (Ontario) Regional Police announced that the 33-year-old Saccucci is one of four men wanted for a spree of home burglaries in Halton, metropolitan Toronto, and Southern Ontario.
On November 21, police executed a search warrant on the suspects homes and found items believes to have been stolen from local residences. Police said the suspects commonly approached homes with their faces covered (sometimes with surgical masks, probably because nobody would think twice about them in this era of COVID), but if confronted by a homeowner, they would make some sort of excuse about why they were there and then leave.
Police were looking for all four suspects for a couple weeks after the search warrants were executed, but all four have since been apprehended, so it’s not like Saccucci was just all of a sudden at WSOP Paradise while on the lam.
Saccucci and Dumark Lindsay were arrested on December 5. Paul Nkrumah was arrested earlier in the week, in possession of a vehicle that police say was stolen. The fourth suspect, Marcel Blackburn, was arrested on December 8. All have been charged with 68 breaking-and-entering-related crimes.
They had been in custody pending bail hearings, but it seems like Saccucci has been released on bond or it would have been even stranger than it was for him to appear at WSOP Paradise.
Saccucci won the 2022 EPT Prague Main Event almost exactly a year ago, banking more than $900,000. The Main Event began yesterday with Day 1A and while we would normally say that there’s no way that Saccucci would try to defend his title considering his legal troubles, I guess now we should never say never.
