The High Roller tournament began three days ago and the field has been dramatically reduced, the action today kicked off with the PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri on the chip lead even though with his style of play he is used to leaving tournaments in the early stages.

The current chip lead is held by the South American player Adolfo Vaeza, some players might remember his name since he made the final table at the PokerStars EPT London back in ’09 and finished in fourth place for $225K. Before his great performance in London he finished in fifth place at the EPT Monte Carlo for $67K.

There are four PokerStars Pros remaining in the field: the one highest on the chip count is Sandra Naujoks from Germany, 2004 WSOP main event winner Greg Raymer is also among the fifteen players remaining. The current world champion Joe Cada is also in contention for the title and Minieri, who was the chip leader at the start of the day has also stuck around but is currently among the short stacks at the tables.

Lisa Hamilton, a previous winner of the 2009 WSOP ladies event is also showing some sharp poker skills in the high roller event. She has managed to be among the top fifteen players in the high roller event.

Play will stop today when there are eight players remaining and it will play down to a final winner tomorrow, starting at noon. The first place prize at stake is half a million dollars.
