The Aussie Millions festivities kicked off in Australia and thousands of players from all parts of world have taken on the challenge of trying to become a new millionaire in one of the most important tournaments in the world.
Stewart Scott is a Party Poker sponsored player and also the defending champion at the Aussie Millions. He participated in some of the earlier tournaments and managed to finish in fifth place at the $1K re-buy tourney. A total of one hundred and eight players registered for the tournament and the field was packed with poker pros.
Another Party Poker player that has been active at the Aussie Millions events is the newly signed Tony G. He participated in the $100K challenge and managed to reach the final table along with seven other players, only five of the players would leave the table with cash prizes. Four of the players that shared the final table with Tony G were: Phil Ivey, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Howard Lederer and Dan Shak.
Tony G had a great run at the table, he busted Lederer and Dwan and managed to end in fifth place which paid $100K. Phil Ivey worked his way up in the tournament and managed to reach the heads-up action with Dan Shak; at the end Shak outplayed Ivey and took first place.
The main event at the Aussie Millions started on the 24th and hundreds of players entered the tournament, as day three ended a total of 18 players are still in contention for the title and each one of them has at least $75K guaranteed in their pockets. The ’07 main event champion Gus Hansen made a deep run into day three but he won’t be returning for day four.
