The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Adelaide event has hit a new record number of registered players at 236, which is ten percent higher than the field reached in ’09. Along with the increment in players the prize pool was bumped up to $644K and a total of twenty seven players will be paid; the first place prize will be $165,900 and the least among of money paid will be $5,155.

The field has players from thirteen different countries, and on day 1C some poker pros joined the tournament. Some of the notables at the tables on the third day of play were Team PokerStars Pro  Tony Hachem, the ’09 ANZPT Melbourne winner Chris Levick, Clonie Gowen and the ’09 Aussie Millions Champion Stewart Scott. The chip leader at the end of the seven levels of play was Darwin Roy Hills, he amassed a 118K chip stack and will take on the remaining field of 126 players.

PokerStars sponsored player Clonie Gowen will not be returning for day two, her tournament life was cut short by Derek Cheung. Both players were involved in a hand that compromised all their chips and after seeing a board that ran 5-7-8-A-J Cheung showed pocket sevens for a flopped set. Gowen decided to muck her cards and looked for the nearest exit. That left only one female player remaining in the tournament, Victoria Martinez. She won her seat at the event through a PokerStars qualifier, despite the fact that she only learned how to play poker three years ago she has had success at some big live events in Australia. She finished in 29th place at the ANZPT event in Sydney and finished in 20th place at the Sydney Poker Championships, she also finished in 53rd place at the Melbourne Poker Championships Main Event. She has shown sharp skills at the tables and will definitely put up a great fight during day two.
