Absolute Poker Bad Beat Jackpot Was Hit During the Holidays

The last days of the year are fairly important for most people around the world and the main reason is that most people visit their families and try to spend quality time with their loved ones, but along with the holidays comes a lot of free time that can be used for many profitable activities. One of which is playing poker online, and specifically at the bad beat tables at Absolute Poker.

In ’09 the bad beat jackpot exceeded $48 million at Absolute Poker and thousands of players have enjoyed the hundreds of thousands of dollars given away each time someone hits the bad beat jackpot. Just in ’09 a total of 107 players won the bad beat jackpot and in December there was a lucky winner, player ROSCOE1206 hit the jackpot on Christmas day and a total of $377,770.05 was handed out to the winners. The top prize exceeded $123K and the rest was divided between the players that shared the table with ROSCOE1206 and all those other players that where sitting actively at any bad beat table as well.

The hand that triggered the bad beat jackpot was one in which ROSCOE1206 was almost sure he would win with his quad tens, but incredibly his opponent showed a ten high straight flush, which automatically activated the bad beat jackpot. The winner of the hand pocketed $62K just for winning the hand, the others at the table received $1,322.40 in cash.

All players that sit at the bad beat tables contribute to the jackpot, when every poker hand is played 50c are taken from the pot and added to the constantly growing jackpot. Once it’s triggered a total of 65% is awarded to the winners and the rest goes towards the following jackpot.
