Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to the Daily Deal by Poker News Daily, brought to you by PokerSource.com.
Full Tilt Poker pro David Benyamine pushed Daniel Negreanu off of a winning flush for a massive $265,500 pot on Sunday’s episode of the GSN cash game franchise “High Stakes Poker.” The first session of a new group of players featuring Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey buying in for $500,000 each, the most at the table. They joined the likes of Doyle Brunson, Eli Elezra, Mike Matusow, and newcomer Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier. Negreanu folded a middle flush to Benyamine’s check-raise for the largest pot of the night. Next week, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond will join the table. New episodes of “High Stakes Poker” air at 8:00pm ET on Sunday nights on GSN.
PokerScout.com released its weekly Online Poker Traffic Update, which showed an increase of 12% in online poker traffic worldwide since last year. The biggest gainers were Full Tilt Poker with a 42% traffic increase year over year, followed by Betfair with 35% and PokerStars with 27%. But for those sites to grow, others had to lose players. The biggest loss was sustained by iPoker Network, which saw a 33% reduction in traffic, along with Party Poker, which went down 22%.
When we return, we will go over the final table of the PokerStars North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun High Roller Bounty Shootout.
The $25,600 two-day NAPT High Roller Bounty Shootout saw 35 players battle for a place in the winner-take-all final. Each of the six table winners received $60,000, while the remainder of the prize money went the winner. Heading into Tuesday’s final table, each player began with 150,000 in chips except for Luis Vazquez , who received 125,000 because of his five-handed table on Monday. The rest of the final table players were Sam Stein, Jason Mercier, Matt Glantz, Shawn Buchanan, and Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka.
In the end, Jason Mercier defeated Sam Stein to win $350,000. Mercier eliminated seven players overall for an extra $35,000 in bounties and won a trip to the next NAPT High Roller Bounty Shootout. The NAPT begins airing on Monday night on ESPN2.
