April 16th – Daily Deal

We have breaking news coming in this morning from Full Tilt Poker, we’ll talk about a very different World Team Poker Team, take a look at ESPN’s “Inside Deal” poker news show and hear more about Annie Duke’s iPhone application.

Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to the Daily Deal by Poker News Daily, brought to you by PokerSource.com.

Coming in off the news wire this morning is an announcement of a major new feature at Full Tilt Poker. Rush Poker will now be found in a tournament structure. As many had guessed, all three of the “To Be Determined” FTOPS events are actually Rush Tournaments. These will be a Turbo, a PLO Knockout and a big Rebuy for the upcoming tournament series.

Officials at World Team Poker announced the final lineup for Team Australia, led jointly by two thousand and nine World Series of Poker Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro AND the notorious Tony G. The team will feature veterans such as Mel Judah and Marsha Wagoner along with some of Australia’s hottest young guns, including Grant Levy and David “Superman” Saab.

ESPN.com poker news show “The Inside Deal” focused on the Mohegan Sun NAPT event. The headline guest was Jason Mercier, member of Team PokerStars Pro and winner of the High Roller Bounty Shootout. Mercier, who had not yet won at the time of his interview, said about the tournament: “It was a really good event. It had a nice turnout and a pretty good field. I really enjoyed it. Overall, I thought it was very well put together.” Vanessa Selbst was also mentioned as the first female winner of a major tournament since two thousand and seven, when Annette Obrestad won the WSOP Europe Main Event.

Up Next, what is Annie Duke trying to do in your iPhone?

The Annie Duke Poker Tutor iPhone app is out today in the Apple App Store. It includes a Tip of the Day and an easy-to-use Hold’em Odds Calculator among other features. Duke told PND about the learning possibilities in this app:

“The Tip of the Day is not just one sentence. It’s a real tip. (…) All of the tips come in a cycle. It’s a real course that starts with hand selection, raising, and betting and then moves to post-flop play.”

The Annie Duke Poker Tutor app is completely free. Thanks for joining me on The Daily Deal by Poker News Daily, brought to you by PokerSource.com.
