On the Daily Deal, we’ll talk about the North American Poker Tour’s debut broadcast on ESPN, a new study about regulating online gambling, and a legal claim against Harrah’s Entertainment.
Hello, I’m Sean Gibson and welcome to the Daily Deal by Poker News Daily, brought to you by PokerSource.com.
The PokerStars North American Poker Tour debuted on ESPN2 on Monday night with the opening round of the Venetian High Roller Bounty Shootout, featuring forty-nine of the game’s top pros in Las Vegas. The show was hosted by the well-loved team of Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.
English gaming consulting company H2 Gambling Capital released a study about the potential benefits from the regulation of online gaming. According to the report, “If the United States were to regulate internet gaming… close to 32,000 jobs would be created over a five-year time span [and expenditures] would top $94 billion over the same period, generating $57.5 billion in tax revenues.”
When we return, why is Harrah’s being accused of breach of contract?
Harrah’s Entertainment denies that it breached a twenty-two point five million dollar sponsorship contract with Everest Poker when an ESPN affiliate aired the tournament series in France and digitally replaced the Everest Poker logo with Full Tilt Poker’s. According to Harrah’s, Everest’s deal specifically did not include France. Everest has refused to comment on the issue, telling Poker News Daily, “Unfortunately, because it is an ongoing lawsuit, we’re currently unable to comment on the issue.”
