The largest PCA event has made history and some players have come down to the Bahamas to make history as well; that is the path that Barry Shulman has followed in the Atlantis Resort casino. He has been on the spotlight in several articles at major poker news sites in the past months and he has done it again, this time due to his great performance at the PCA main event. He never held the chip lead but had a solid performance throughout the entire tournament, he made important moves when he needed to and had the combination of luck and skill working in his favor for almost all of the levels in the tournament. In fact things worked out so well for the poker veteran that he managed to make it to the final table, where his style of play helped him survive until he eventually got crippled in a bluff, the player that did the damage to Shulman’s chip stack was Ty Reiman.
Shulman scored a $1.35 million win and that makes it the second time in a five month period where he has been able to win a prizes that exceeds $1.3 million. The first big prize pool he won in September of ’09 was at the WSOPE main event, in which he managed to outplay some of the best players in the world to take down the first place.
Barry has been around for many years at the tables and he has won six figure prizes in the past, but his wins from the past 5 months have certainly given him more motivation to continue to play at the biggest live tournaments in the world.
His major goal was to win the WSOP main event and he managed to do it at the other side of the world, he might try to repeat the feat in 2010 but this time in Las Vegas. He certainly is one player that will remain in the radar of all other players due to the level that his game has reached.
