Benny Glaser is on a run the likes that has rarely been seen in the online poker world, if, in fact, it has ever been seen before. On Monday, the man who goes by “RunGodlike” on PokerStars, won his sixth title of the 2023 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), breaking the series record.
The six tournaments featured six different games: Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw, 2-7 Single Draw, Pot-Limit Omaha 8, 5-Card Draw, and No-Limit Hold’em. If there could be any knock on the feat, it’s that almost all of Glaser’s wins were in very small tournaments; only one of the first five had triple-digit entries, and that one was 178 (137 players, 41 re-entries). The reason for that was because most had high buy-ins and were niche games, but that also means that the fields were tough. I mean, I probably haven’t won six multi-table tournaments in my entire life, so six in a single online poker tournament series is an accomplishment to behold.
Glaser’s latest victory was in the medium buy-in tier of Event #68: $320 No-Limit Hold’em, the biggest one of the six. The tournament had 1,175 entries (820 players, 355 re-entries) and a $352,500 prize pool, easily beating the $250,000 guarantee. Glaser won $55,705 in that one.
Here are all six tournaments Glaser has won in the 2023 WCOOP, along with his prize money:
WCOOP 16-M: $109 Badugi [6-Max], $15,000 Guaranteed – $3,550
WCOOP World Championship of 2-7 Triple Draw, $50,000 Guaranteed – $22,650
WCOOP 50-H: $1,050 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw, $40,000 Guaranteed – $19,489
WCOOP 53-H: $2,100 PLO8, $125,000 Guaranteed – $44,201
WCOOP 61-H: $1,050 NL 5-Card Draw – $14,207
WCOOP 68-M: $320 No Limit Hold’em, $250,000 Guaranteed – $55,705
Glaser now has the PokerStars “COOP” trifecta. He has pushed his COOP victory total to 24, more than anyone else. His 13 lifetime WCOOP titles leads the way and he now has ten Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) wins after three earlier this year, also a record.
So that’s nine total COOP victories this year for Benny Glaser. Last year he had one SCOOP and four WCOOP titles.
It feels needless to say, but Glaser also sits atop the 2023 WCOOP overall leaderboard with 1,495 points. He’s actually not all that far ahead of second place FAL1st, who has 1,375 points. Glaser has mostly done his damage on the “high” buy-in leaderboard, while FAL1st has made hay on the “low leaderboard.
