September 2006 affected US poker players and a lot of poker rooms that had to stop taking action from US customers. Party Poker was the largest poker room in the world, but took a major hit after shutting their doors to US customers, and had to redirect their advertising and promotions to other parts of the world.
But not all poker rooms stopped taking US customers; Cake Poker arrived on the poker scene in 2006 their doors have always been open to US players. It quickly became one of the most popular rooms among US players and one of the ten largest in the online poker industry.
Cake Poker likes to innovate and have a large variety of tournaments available for all their players. In April 2009, Cake Poker introduced the first online poker software for windows mobile smart phones. Some people were skeptical, but players who had smart phones with windows mobile gave the software a chance and where impressed with the overall look and performance it offered.
Due to the fact that players liked the software and continued to play on it, Cake Poker continued developing more features for it and fixed some bugs that plagued the first release. They have recently announced an update to their mobile platform that will have more features than ever. Cake Poker will also be releasing a Blackberry/Symbian application and in the next updates mobile tournaments will be available.
