The dates for the 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure were announced this week. The marquee annual live poker tournament will begin on January 4th, 2009, from the Atlantis Hotel and Casino in Nassau in The Bahamas. Last year's champion of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, took home $2 million for the win. He'll be back to defend his title in 2008, soaking up the sun in the process. Other superstars slated to appear according to a press release distributed by the online poker room include 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Hachem, Fossil-Man Greg Raymer, and the man who started it all, Chris Moneymaker. Doyle Brunson to Attend APT Macau
Doyle Brunson, one of the legends and founding fathers of the world of poker, has been recently announced as the latest addition to the roster of brand name poker professionals who will be attending the Asian Poker Tour's Macau event. The tournament starts on August 27th and takes place at Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino. The APT's tournament will boast some of the top tournament and cash game pros in the world. Scheduled to attend are J.C. Tran, Nam Le, Steve Sung, and Doyle's son Todd Brunson, who was also just announced as an attendee. AGA Launches Gambling Awareness Week
Tuesday marked the second day of an important week for the American Gaming Association. The AGA, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C., launched the 11th annual Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW), which takes place between now and Friday, August 8th. The goal of the RGEW is to encourage casino "employees to begin a conversation about responsible gaming at home, on the job and in the community," according to a press release distributed by the organization. AGA President and CEO Frank Fahrenkopf commented, "Responsible gaming is not just an issue for casinos, it's an issue for the whole community." Read more »

CryptoLogic Shares Plummet on Earnings Report
Investors of the gaming software company CryptoLogic took a major hit on the London Stock Exchange last week, as shares sunk by 10% on Thursday alone after the market digested a report stating that revenue during the second quarter would fall short of expectations. The company attributed the downturn in revenue to the "seasonality and the effect of the Euro 2008 football championships," which wrapped up in June. CryptoLogic also claimed that "its success in signing five new customers in the second quarter enhances its outlook for the second half of 2008." Club WPT Tournaments to Air on Fox Sports Net
The World Poker Tour announced this week that its private, subscription-based poker room, Club WPT, has partnered with cable channel Fox Sports Net to air special tournaments above and beyond the 26 episodes that will make up Season VII of the WPT. Betway Cites Fraud in Sports Book Payout Complaints
Recently, Betway's sports book was downgraded to an "F" by Sports Book Review. The website alleges that two of its "players are waiting for Moneybookers payments initially requested in late May and early June. Betway has claimed that it had sent the funds via Moneybookers to one player but the e-wallet returned the funds back to them.
