Devilfishpoker.com – the irreverent poker site sponsored by notorious poker pro David Ulliott – holds nothing sacred, and the Olympics are no exception. Devilfish Poker is launching its first ever Devilympics, which will determine “poker’s greatest athlete across 75 Money-Added Tournaments.”

According to the Devilfish poker website, “Devilfish Poker players will be proving their reputation as online poker’s strongest, fittest and sharpest players by competing in the Devilympics.” These will consist of 5 tournaments every night for 15 nights in a row, at the end of which the top 3 winners – dubbed “Devilympians” by the site – will be crowned with additional cash prizes adding up to €10,000, or about $15,000.

The Devilympics is set to kick off with a €1,000 (about $1,500) Opening Ceremony Freeroll Bounty Tournament at 8.30pm BST on August 8th, which will be free for all members of the site. As an added incentive, the site’s inspiration and icon Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott will be part of the tourney and have a €250 Bounty on his head, which is just under $400.

After this “Opening ceremony” freeroll, Devilfish poker will host 5 tourneys each night with buy-ins of €5 (just under $8) for rebuy tourneys or €10 (just over $15) for freeze-out tourneys, adding €100 (around $150) to each prize pool. All players who make a final table into any of these tourneys will earn points on a sliding scale:

1st place (Gold) – 10 points
2nd place (Silver) – 6 points
3rd place (Bronze) – 4 points
4th – 9th place – 1 point each

Devilfish Poker will feature leaderboards to show the top individual players and the highest accumulated scores by players of the same country. Although the site does not accept U.S. players they have included the U.S. into the leaderboard with a humorous explanation: “We do not accept US players – we just thought that they looked funny on zero.”

The Devilympics will come to an end on August 24 with another freeroll: the Closing Ceremony €1,000 Devilympics Freeroll Bounty, where Ulliott will again pay a €250 Bounty to the player who knocks him out.

At the end of the 75 tournaments, the top scoring players will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals accompanied with hefty cash prizes: €5,000 (around $7,700) for Gold, €3,000 (around $4,600) for Silver and €2,000 (a tad over $3,000) for Bronze.

In total, Devilfish poker will dole out €20,000 in Devilympics prizes, a prize pool exceeding $31,000.
