The first event of the sixth UB.com Online Championship (UBOC) kicked off on Sunday night and featured a healthy field of 664 players. The $530 No Limit Hold’em contest whittled down to one man, Laurence “DONT_RIVER_ME” Houghton, who came away with a $78,000 top prize. In September, Houghton took down a PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title; he also owns a Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) jersey.
Second place belonged to TIETYMM, who pulled down nearly $50,000. The German online poker player took second in a WCOOP event last September for $90,000 and also final tabled the PokerStars Wednesday Quarter Million in June for $34,000. TIETYMM is a Triple Crown winner on PocketFives.com, an award that requires a player to win three $10,000 prize pool online poker tournaments across three sites tracked for the site’s prestigious Rankings in a seven-day period.
David “DSANDS25” Sands grabbed third place on the Event #1 leaderboard and collected $33,000.
