On Saturday morning, many members of Doyle’s Room received an e-mail saying that if they deposited, they would receive a free entry into the $250,000 Guaranteed. The tournament, which kicked off at 4:00pm ET, attracted 1,319 players (not all of whom may have paid to enter). This means that the tournament saw a massive $50,000 overlay, generating a $197,000 prize pool. According to the online poker room’s website, the $250K Guarantee will occur again next Saturday, October 11th, at 4:00pm ET.
The tournament is being billed as the “Doyle’s Room Super Saturday $250,000 Guaranteed.” Once again, the tournament on October 11th will boast a buy-in of $150 + $15. Over the weekend, the tournament was won by chipzen, who pocketed $46,875 for first place, taking advantage of the $50,000 overlay. Heads up, he defeated bigdaddywins, who took home $28,425. As part of the October 11th installment of the $250K Guarantee, $1,000 bounties will be placed on the heads of several members of the Doyle’s Room celebrity contingent. Players will be aiming for names such as Doyle Brunson, Todd Brunson, Mike Caro, Hoyt Corkins, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, T.J. Cloutier, Anjela Brunson, and Dewey Tomko.
Satellites for the tournament, which will also likely see a sizeable overlay, start at $1.65. Daily satellites come with a $19 price tag and one entry into the $250K Guaranteed will be awarded for every 10 players. Satellites for $33 run every Saturday. That route into the tournament awards one entry for every five players. The $250K Guaranteed can be found in the poker lobby by visiting “Scheduled Tournaments,” “Regular,” and then “$250K Guaranteed.”
“The Bounty” is Doyle’s Room’s feature midweek event. It occurs every Wednesday at 9:30pm ET. Bounties are placed on the heads of Doyle Brunson, Todd Brunson, and Mike Caro, making this tournament one of a kind. If a player collects one bounty, they will pocket $500. If a player collects two bounties, they will take home $5,000. Finally, if a person collects three bounties, they’ll amass $25,000 in winnings. Every player who buys into The Bounty for the first time will have their buy-in refunded, win or lose.
In the Wednesday Bounty tournament, any player who knocks out Doyle holding 10-2, Brunson’s trademark hand, wins $1,020. Additionally, the winner of each tournament becomes one of the bounties for the coming week, adding additional pressure to any title defense. The last 10 players standing are able to enter a tournament scheduled for the following Monday “where they can compete for free tournament entries and thousands of free loyalty points,” according to the room’s website.
Doyle’s Room accepts players from the United States. Besides the $250K Guarantee and The Bounty, its promotional offering focuses on sending players to the Master Classics of Poker, an Amsterdam tournament with an estimated €2 million prize pool. The tournament will be held at the Holland Casino from November 7th through 15th. Prize packages on Doyle’s Room include a six-night stay at the nearby Park Hotel, $600 for travel, and $500 spending money. The Master Classics of Poker Main Event has a buy-in of €6,200; each prize package is valued at $12,500.
Brunson, the site’s namesake, is a 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. He has piled up $2.8 million in 31 career WSOP cashes and became a member of the Poker Hall of Fame in 1988. Brunson won the 1976 and 1977 WSOP Main Events and took down his 10th bracelet in 2005. He is tied with Johnny Chan for the second most bracelets ever; both trail Phil Hellmuth, who holds 12.
