On Tuesday, a field of 543 players turned out for Event #7 of the ongoing UB.com Online Championship, or UBOC. The $320 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournament featured two-time bracelet winner Brandon Cantu as its host and offered up a $162,000 prize pool. When the final cards were dealt, ED_ANGELIS walked away with a $40,000 top prize.
Unlike yesterday’s Rock Star Bounty tournament, no chop ended matters on Tuesday in Event #7. Second place went to a longtime member of the online poker community, Joe “HOODINI10” Udine. The Philadelphia resident banked a $24,000 consolation prize, adding to his legacy that already includes an August win in the Full Tilt $150 Rebuy for $72,000 and a final table in the PokerStars Super Tuesday in October for $54,000.
Udine is somewhat of a legend on the popular online poker forum PocketFives.com. He’s the nephew of poker pro Joseph “JOEYTHEB” Brooks and, in August 2009, stormed through the field of a $1,060 Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) tournament to collect over $300,000 after a heads-up chop. He’s made the final tables of the biggest poker events on the planet, including the PokerStars $100 Rebuy, Sunday Warm-Up, and a $1,000 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) tournament.
Third place in the Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em UBOC event belonged to Massachusetts’ Christopher “BONEZEE” Bonita. His exit was worth $16,000. In June 2009, Bonita took sixth place in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event held during the annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, cashing for $117,000. Tony Veckey defeated Jason Wheeler in the finals of that tournament and pocketed nearly $700,000 along with a coveted gold bracelet.
Other in the money finishers included PocketFives.com Triple Crown holder Sitan “JOHNNYBELOW” Stabell, former World Poker Tour Bay 101 winner McLean “PUREPROFITFO” Karr, and Corwin “MIG_NET” Mackey, who cashed in his second UBOC 6 event.
