Full Tilt Poker, the world’s second largest online poker site, added another innovative feature to its software this week. The poker room known for pioneering Rush Poker and Cashout Tournaments has introduced Multi-Entry Tournaments, which will allow players to enter the same tournament multiple times.
Go ahead and get the Sorel Mizzi jokes out of your system now. This new update is for real and quickly gaining interest from online tournament regulars. Players can buy in multiple times to these unique tournaments, but will never be seated with another one of their entries, which curbs the opportunity to collude. If a player eventually has more entries than there are tables left, they will be forced to merge stacks. In the case that a player has two entries left on the final table bubble, he or she will combine their stacks into one at the final table.
Players who don’t like to multi-table can also get in on the action by playing a single entry until they bust and then registering again, as long as late registration is still open. For now, each player is limited to a maximum of four buy-ins, but that number could change depending on customer feedback and analysis.
The first Multi-Entry Tournament kicked off on Tuesday morning. The $1 buy-in event reached its maximum of 5,000 entries and Full Tilt Red Pros Aaron Bartley, Michael Craig, and Ross Boatman participated in the action. “Storm667” won the tournament for $990. More Multi-Entry Tournaments will be showing up as they gain popularity and the new events will also be included in the upcoming Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) in February.
Full Tilt Poker also added a few other features in its latest update. Here’s a look at each:
Black Card Tiers: High-volume players will earn 3X Full Tilt Points (FTPs) when their 100-day running average is 1,500 FTPs and 4X when it’s over 3,000. Those who play in a shorthanded game during a regular Happy Hour could earn 6X FTPs.
Sit Out All Tables: Players will now have the option of sitting out or sitting back in to all of their tables at once. The new options can be found next to the “Sit Out Next Hand” and “Sit Out Next BB” advanced action checkboxes. This will undoubtedly be a popular feature for multi-tabling cash game players.
Badugi/Nine-Game Tournaments: These games will be making appearances in the upcoming FTOPS schedule. The Nine-Game will also be featured as a Multi-Entry Tournament.
Run it Twice in Mixed Games: Made popular on GSN’s “High Stakes Poker,” players will now have the option to run it twice in the No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha rounds. The Run it Twice feature was first introduced by Full Tilt at its high-stakes cash game tables in 2009.
As if the software update weren’t enough, Full Tilt Poker announced that it would be running a $30 million Double Guarantees Week from Monday, January 24th to Sunday, January 30th. For that week only, every Guaranteed tournament on the schedule will have its prize pool doubled, culminating in what should be one of the biggest Sundays of the year in online poker. The Sunday Brawl, which kicks off at 2:00pm ET, will have its guaranteed prize pool increased from $400,000 to $800,000. The site’s flagship tournament, the $1 Million Guarantee, will have a $2 million prize pool. That event begins at 5:00pm ET.
