Full Tilt Poker pros and members are among the best poker players in the world. Poker players are seen as materialist people that only care about money, but that is not true at all: some of the wealthiest poker players have active roles in charities that help those in need around the world.
A charity event was planned when Cabot Creamery of Vermont and the Borgata Hotel and Casino partnered to create the tournament called “Put a Bad Beat on Hunger.” All the money raised would go to the Community Foodbank of New Jersey.
The event featured professional poker player Roy “The Oracle” Winston and the 2005 World Series of Poker runner-up Steve Dannenman.
Roy Winston is the 2007 Borgata Main Event Champion; he also won the World Poker Tour season 6. His live tournament earnings exceed $2,5 million.
Steve Dannenman finished in second place at the 2005 WSOP main event, his live tournament earnings exceed $4,5 million, with a total of 3 cashes at the WSOP.
The Bad Beat on Hunger tournament had 71 players registered, and at the end of the day Full Tilt member Roy Winston was the last man standing. He donated half of his prize back to charity. Other players that finished in the money did the same good deed as Roy Winston.
