The most anticipated final table of the year has ended although Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey was clearly the crowd favorite to take down the $8.5 million first place prize, his competitors had other ideas. Darvin Moon ended Ivey’s run much earlier than anticipated when his A-Q sucked out on Phil’s A-K.

Phil Ivey finished in 7th place and took home $1.4 million and that was enough to move him up in the list of all time tournament earnings, where he now sits in second place taking Jamie Gold’s place.  Ivey is close to taking the lead from Daniel Negreanu and if he had finished at least in fifth place the lead would have been his.

Some of the best poker players in the world had side bets with the Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey, but most of them involved taking Phil down the tournament. One of the biggest bets was with Andy Bloch and it was done when there were around 2,500 hundred players still in contention of the title.  The amount wagered by Bloch was $20K and he gave Ivey 99 to 1 odds which implied a payment of nearly two million dollars if Ivey won the event.  Another big side bet was placed with a regular at the high stakes games at Full Tilt Poker, Tom “durrrr” Dwan had to pay Ivey one million dollars if he outplayed all the opponents at the final table.  Luckily for durrrr Ivey finished in 7th place and ‘durrrr’, who’s been struggling at the cash tables of late, gets to keep his million dollars.
