Poker pro Thuy Doan was born in Vietnam in the ‘80s and her mom survived the Vietnam War, unfortunately for her the consequences of the war followed her across the world after her family moved to the United States to start a new life.
Just after graduating from college, Thuy was diagnosed with Cancer on her upper left calf/knee and due to the fact that she recently graduated and her job was playing poker, she did not have any insurance coverage. Her nightmare began after she was denied coverage from her mom’s insurance company, but the company has since changed their stance and agreed to cover her medical bill. She has started chemotherapy and some poker pros have showed her that they are with her in these tough moments. Full Tilt Pro Tom “durrrr” Dwan and PokerStars pro Barry Greenstein have shaved their heads in support of Thuy. Her treatment started recently and she still has not made any improvements, but hopefully with some more time the tumor will be eliminated and she will be able to put these tough times behind her.
