To say that Tom “durrrr” Dwan has had a difficult year is probably an understatement. He dumped over $4 million in just the first two months of ’09, but somehow managed to overcome the deficit and grind back to even by the middle of the year. But durrrr’s roller-coaster year has continued and as of this writing, he’s once again down over $6 million for the year.
A major factor in durrrr’s terrible downswing has been the new face at the high stakes tables, Isildur1. He has become durrrr’s nemesis and has run over Dwan in most of their sessions. Durrrr is very well known for being able to adjust to his opponent, but he has certainly had trouble with Isildur.
But durrrr is not the only Full Tilt Pro struggling at the virtual felts as fellow poker pro Gus Hansen has also had a terrible year. His downswing started in March and has continued in recent months. His losses for the year are at almost $6 million and it only seems to be getting worse.
Both Red Pros bring a lot of excitement to the high stakes tables and should take some time off to rethink their strategy in order make a successful comeback to the virtual felts.

Durrr is finding that he is nothing but a risky gambler rather than a cardplayer. It’s strange that Howard and Phil and company gave Dwan the Full Tilt Sponsorship as they had to know that Dwan would donk all his money away. There are those who play cards and those who are cardplayers. Cardplayers win money and have sustained success. People who play cards can have short term success, but will eventually lose it all. Dwan plays cards.
