One of the toughest challenges for a poker player is dealing with an inevitable downswing. Recently, that’s exactly what Full Tilt Pro Tom “durrrr” Dwan is going through.
One of the popular topics on poker forums lately has been whether or not durrrr has what it takes to overcome multimillion dollar downswings. Despite all the buzz, Dwan has managed to ignore his naysayers and concentrate on playing well.
It all started to spiral out of control for durrrr in November when he lost nearly $7 million, much of i to newcomer Isildur1. Tom played against Isildur1 in many sessions, each time losing more money. Durrrr lost about $5 million to Isildur1 alone, and it looked like it would be impossible for him to win his money back.
A few weeks after Isildur1 appeared at the high stakes tables and crushed almost all of his opponents, the high stakes regulars started to adapt to his style of play, with noticeable results. Unfortunately for durrrr, he was still losing money.
In the last few days durrrr has spent a lot of time at the Full Tilt virtual felts, and his results are improving as he’s up over 3 million in the last week. It looks like durrrr has turned the tables around and could overcome one of the toughest downswings this year.
