Gavin Smith joins us to discuss poker, life, Canada and of course, hockey.
When asked if he played hockey, Smith admitted he played the game for over 30 years. Is there a connection between hockey players and them being good poker players?
“Well, I definitely don’t think there is a connection because there’s a lot of sh&*ty hockey players that are really bad poker players. I think it’s just more that it’s cold in the winter,” said Smith.
With cold winters in Canada, Smith was asked about the options to either play poker or drink. Smith agreed and made sure to add “…and have sex, we’re good at that too” when speaking on behalf of all Canadian people.
Smith’s plans in 2011 are shaping up, “It’s a good start to the year, I won a little tournament up in Calgary and I cashed at the Borgata so things are going alright. My plans are to play a pretty full schedule for the year… FTOPS was no good, I had one small cash and that was it.”
The final question for Smith was who was going to win the Stanley Cup. He commented, “Vancouver is looking pretty good. I always hold out hope that somehow and someway a miracle will happen for Toronto but it never does. I guess I’m going to have to go with Vancouver because they are looking pretty strong.”
