Jason Senti (PBJaxx) – 2010 WSOP Main Event Seventh Place Finisher

Jason “PBJaxx” Senti is an instructor at the popular poker training site BlueFire Poker. The former electrical engineer turned poker pro recorded a deep run in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and currently plays $5/$10 to $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em online. He took seventh in the WSOP Main Event for $1,356,720.

Senti was a member of the 2010 WSOP November Nine and entered as the short stack of the group with 7.63 million. With blinds of 250,000/500,000, that means he’ll have about 15 big blinds to work with when play resumes in November and will likely be in push or fold mode pre-flop. Senti nearly sent Brandon Steven packing earlier than expected when Steven pushed pre-flop with A-K suited. Senti reluctantly made the call with K-10 and found himself dominated. The board ran out Q-5-8-A-6 and Steven doubled up, although he landed in 10th place and was the November Nine Bubble Boy.

Senti held the fourth largest stack entering the final day of play and largely shut down when play was 10-handed. He’s guaranteed a payout of $811,000 and is vying for a top prize of $8.9 million.

Like many established poker pros, Senti has traveled the world and even sings in a band called Minneapolis, furthering his reach into mainstream society. Senti was on life support entering Day 7 of the 2010 WSOP Main Event and came in with the 69th largest chip stack out of just 78 runners. However, the industry veteran doubled up with A-5 against the pocket sevens of David Assouline. Despite only holding one overcard to Assouline’s pocket pair, Senti watched as an ace hit on the flop. He ultimately hit a full house on the river, doubled up, and never looked back. He’s become the poster child for “a chip and a chair.”

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Senti finished 21st in the World Championship of Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em in 2009 at the WSOP. Consequently, the further the field dwindles in major live tournaments, the better the odds will be that you’ll see Senti near the top of the leaderboard. The cash was good for $18,000 and solidified Senti as a force to be reckoned with in the cash game and tournament arenas. Besides the 2010 Main Event, that tournament remains Senti’s lone WSOP in the money finish.

Senti also dabbles in Pot Limit Omaha online in both heads-up and six-max formats. His company on BlueFire Poker includes fellow instructors Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, Niman “Samoleus” Kenkre, Ryan Fee, and Don “SoCalQuest” Nguyen. The poker training site once challenged U.S. President Barack Obama to a heads-up battle to prove the game was skill-based. Needless to say, Obama did not take site reps up on their offer.
