Joe Hachem joins us from a cocktail party in Las Vegas and briefly discusses topics on his home country of Australia and what it is to be a member of Team PokerStars Pro. In addition, he comments about welcoming Vanessa Selbst and David Williams to the team.
When we asked Hachem, who won the World Series of Poker Main Event, about Australia and why Aussies are true battlers, he stated, “I think Australia as a nation, we’re very competitive and we never give up and that really helps.”
Later in the interview, Hachem is asked about the two new members of the PokerStars sponsored team and how David Williams talked about family during his welcome speech.
To that point, Hachem responded, “I think that the great thing about PokerStars is that we are one family. When I signed up five years ago there was only a handful of us and we were all very tight. Now, we’re over 80 pros and although we don’t know everyone that comes on all that well, eventually we do… and we’re like one big family.”
Joe Hachem rose to fame in 2005 by winning the WSOP Main Event and the $7.5 million first place prize that went with it. Proving that he is one of the best tournament players in the world was realized when Hachem went on to win the World Poker Tour’s Bellagio Five Diamond Classic event for $2.2 million. Hachem hails from Melbourne, Australia and is married with children.
