Stomped the competition
Joey Weissman completely owned the 2025 PokerGO Cup this past week and a half, officially being crowned the series champion on Thursday. For his accomplishments, he earned the PokerGO Cup trophy and a $25,000 PokerGO Tour (PGT) passport, good for buy-ins to PGT events.
As PokerGO called it, Weissman’s romp through the PokerGO Cup was “one of the best performances in PGT history.”
And it certainly was. Weissman won the second event of the series, $10,100 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em, to put himself on top of the leaderboard for good. In addition to that, he finished second a whopping three other times, in Event #1, Event #4, and Event #8. All told, Joey Weissman won $930,600 during the 2025 PokerGO Cup.
The race to be Cup champion was not even close. With 758 leaderboard points, Weissman cleared second place Eric Blair by nearly 200 points. He didn’t have it wrapped up until the final event, though, when he finished second for 177 points.
Early leader for year-long accolades
Weissman has also jumped to the top of the early-season PGT leaderboard with 907 points. Kristen Foxen, who has also been a tear lately, is close behind with 857 points. Eric Blair sits in third with 722 points.
According to The Hendon Mob’s tournament database, Weissman now has over $8.5 million in lifetime live tournament earnings. Amazingly, because of the explosion of high buy-in events and gigantic prize pools in recent years, he only ranks 208th on the all-time earnings list.
His best career cash was one of his first: a $694,609 score for a $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em bracelet win at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
Up next for the PokerGO Tour is the PGT Mixed Games series, which begins next Tuesday, February 25. The seven-tournament series will run through March 4.
