Jonathan Duhamel talks to us one day before the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event is played out. Duhamel comes in as the chip leader and man with the giant target on his back going into play, which will start on November 6th at noon Pacific Time in Las Vegas.
Filmed on November 5th, less than 24 hours before play is to begin, Duhamel meets up with our own Sean Gibson at the Penn & Teller theater at the Rio Hotel and Casino. When asked about his emotions going into tomorrow, Duhamel stated:
“I’m feeling great and I’m ready to play at the final table. I’ve never been more focused for a poker tournament and I’m ready to play right now.”
When asked about his approach as chip leader on leaning on the short stacks, he commented, “I’m just going to look for good opportunities and timing will be important… so going in I’m just going to pick up good spots.”
Duhamel also discussed what he’s been up to since we last saw him here in Vegas. He has been keeping up with both ice hockey and gym hockey (played with pads but on sneakers) as well as his poker game. He’s been active by participating in a lot of live events, including a decent showing at the Mohegan Sun prior to arriving in Las Vegas.
When Gibson asked Duhamel about his role in the poker industry regardless of how the WSOP Final Table will go, he stated, “I’m here and I want to play in as many tournaments as I can. I want to do a lot of traveling and visit a lot of countries. Poker is what I’ve wanted to do since I started playing and I want to be one of the big guns playing in the big tournaments.”
Duhamel hails from Montreal, Quebec in Canada and is a sponsored pro at PokerStars.
