The world’s largest poker tour for women, the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS) is making history in Peru by bringing the first international poker tournament to this South American Country.
The LIPS tour has joined forces with the Pro Poker Challenge of America to launch Peru’s first ever international poker series, which will be held on August 23-September 1st at the Casino Atlantic City in the city of Miraflores, near Lima, Peru.
The tour organizers expect attendants to mix business with pleasure, encouraging players to explore sightseeing opportunities in the land of the Incas. First, let’s go over the business:
The tour will start in style on Saturday, August 23 with single table satellites, and continue on August 24 with an unusual Mega Satellite which will give the winner not one seat but a “Super Pass” – an entire week’s worth of entries, including the Main Event. The actual events start on Monday, August 25 and will go on until the final table of the Championship Event is played out on September 1st.
This is the full schedule:
Sat, Aug 23 – 6 PM Single Table Satellites Begin*

Lupe Soto, founder of the LIPS Tour, also emphasized the non-poker opportunities of the tour: “We are absolutely thrilled to be expanding into Latin America. This is only the beginning of the new type of poker tourism we’ll be able to offer players. Our goal is to create great poker opportunities and amazing venues in which to play the game as well.” Poker tourism indeed: since under Peruvian law it is only allowed to play poker between 6pm and 6am, players will be “forced” to leave the casino in the daytime and explore their exotic surroundings, which offer aquatic sports, museums full of Incan treasure and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World: the famous Machu Picchu Inca site in Cusco.
As an added attraction, the tour will feature several top women poker players such as Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher, who will offer a strategy seminar and autograph signing to attendants on August 30.
Hi There,
Great to see the Ladies series of Poker being held in Peru this year.
I have been playing poker since the age of 5, However i live in small island nemed Gibraltar and I am a sponsered player however Peru is a bit to far for me to go on sponsered money. I would have like to have played this 11 day event.
Maybe LIPS can bring the series a little closer to home next time? Well good luck to all those that do get a chance to play.
