Microgaming Network Bad Beat Jackpot Hit Twice in 24-Hour Period

Seeing an online poker room’s Bad Beat Jackpot hit once every couple of weeks is normal, but the Microgaming Poker Network’s bounty was recently hit twice within a 24-hour period.

The Microgaming Network offers its Bad Beat Jackpot to players on specially designated tables over its string of 36 online poker rooms, including 32RedPoker, Unibet, Cool Hand Poker, and Ladbrokes. When at least four players are in a hand on these special tables, the Bad Beat Jackpot is up for grabs. A player has to have a minimum of quad eights or higher using both hole cards – and be beaten at showdown by a better hand that also uses both hole cards – for the jackpot to be awarded.

After not being hit for several weeks, the Microgaming Network’s Bad Beat Jackpot had climbed to $558,296.27 as of late last week. The hit came early on Saturday morning during action on the tables at NordicBet. As usual with these types of jackpots, the two hands involved were stunning.

At approximately 6:00am U.K. time last Saturday, NordicBet player “4447470” entered into a hand holding pocket tens when the player was looked up by “epohon,” who held painted suited connectors in clubs. After the board rolled out and the smoke cleared, “4447470” ended up holding quad tens, only to be trumped by “epohon’s” Royal Flush. After the players realized they had cracked the Microgaming Network Bad Beat Jackpot, all that was left to do was to divvy up the money.

For having quad tens cracked, “4447470” took down a staggering $195,403.70, while “epohon” earned an additional $97,701.85 beyond what was won in the hand. Two other players at the table, “wemser66” and “Greenkeper,” each earned $48,850.92 for watching the action.

“4447470” was, naturally, quite elated after the victory. “I knew that my four of a kind tens weren’t enough to beat my opponent’s Royal Flush, although when I looked moments later, I saw notification of my win and realized that I had hit the Bad Beat Jackpot and start screaming,” “4447470” commented to Microgaming officials following the achievement. “I still can’t believe I won… Now, I think it’s time to relax before taking my place back at the poker table.”

After reseeding the kitty following “4447470’s” massive score, the Microgaming Network’s Bad Beat Jackpot was off and running again. This time, however, there wouldn’t be a long wait until it was hit again.

On Sunday around 1:30am, the Microgaming Network Bad Beat Jackpot stood at $114,264.23 when it went off. This time around, “papa45” sat with four jacks, only to see “zebro74’s” straight flush in diamonds eclipse him. For taking the losing end of the showdown, “papa45” took $39,992.48 from the Bad Beat Jackpot, while “zebro74” ended up with a payday of $19,996.24. Four other players in action on the virtual felt – “AMECH1,” “bigbadbabaar,” “HotChip,” and “OwnedByRiver” – each picked up $4,999.06 for sitting at the table.

The two strikes to the Microgaming Network’s Bad Beat Jackpot within 24 hours added up to $470,792 being paid out to 10 pkayers. Following “papa45’s” score, the Bad Beat Jackpot was reseeded with $22,852.85 and is once again growing.
