The 2010 Casinomeister Awards were recently announced, with Microgaming receiving the award for Best Software Provider and other companies picking up trophies for their performances.

The Casinomeister Awards have been handed out for the last decade, honoring the best and worst in the online gaming community. This year, awards were given in 40 different categories such as Best U.S.-Friendly Casino and Best Global Casino. Microgaming was up for the award for Best Software Provider.

For Microgaming, this was the third time the company had captured the Best Software Provider award, although it was the first time since 2006 that it won. Casinomeister looked at such criteria as game production and interaction with customers in the development of games and determined that Microgaming was the best in its class.

“We are proud to win the award for Best Software Provider and owe this to our dedicated teams around the globe, who strive to develop and deliver first class gaming content,” said Roger Raatgever, Chief Executive Officer of Microgaming. “Hopefully, this will be a sign of things to come for the rest of the year!”

Microgaming is not only one of the premier software providers in the online gaming industry, but it also boasts one of the top online poker networks. The Microgaming Network features such rooms as Unibet, Purple Lounge, and Crazy Poker and is consistently one of the top performers in the industry. According to PokerScout.com, the Microgaming Network is the 12th largest in the online poker industry by cash game volume and, once nation-specific sites for Italy and France are removed, is the ninth largest.

32Red Casino – for which Microgaming provides online poker software – was honored as Best Global Casino operation. The 32Red Casino operation also captured the Best Casino Group award for its triumvirate of offerings in Dash Casino, Ned Play, and Golden Lounge.

A new award was introduced this year, honoring the memory of one of Casinomeister’s key associates. The Ted Loh Humanitarian Award was given out for the first time and its inaugural honoree has a background in the online poker world. The Calvin Ayre Foundation, the philanthropic group started by Bodog founder Calvin Ayre, was the first ever recipient of the Ted Loh Humanitarian Award for the organization’s efforts in relief work after Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010.

Ayre announced that, following the earthquake, the Calvin Ayre Foundation would match the donations raised by the online gaming industry to help rebuilding efforts in the country. The goal was to raise $1 million and, although the online gaming world came up short of that total, the organization raised almost £78,000 (approximately $124,000). The Calvin Ayre Foundation held to their word and delivered a donation of £155,316 for relief efforts in Haiti.

A full list of the winners can be found on the Casinomeister website. Poker News Daily would like to extend our congratulations to Microgaming on its achievement.
