Up and coming poker site Million Dollar Poker Club is awarding players with poker training opportunities. Up to 50 of the trained players will then be sent to the WSOP.
The Million Dollar Poker Club has a novel approach to marketing: it is dedicated to making its players better by offering poker coaching and training courses as part prizes for their tournaments and freerolls. Among the coaching opportunities is a WPT Boot Camp package, complete with travel, accommodation and a week’s worth of training by some of the world’s top pros; personal training in Las Vegas with Tom McEvoy; and special training with Daniel Negreanu and his poker school, Poker VT.
Mike McGrath, the Marketing Director at The Million Dollar Poker Club, looks forward to offering this opportunity to MDPC players:
Daniel is a great ambassador for the game, one of the world’s top players and one hell of a genuinely nice guy… It was natural for me to turn to his training company, PokerVT, when we decided to train 50 of our members to potentially represent us at the WSOP 2009. Instead of spending our money on a star like Daniel, we decided we should use his skills to train our own generation of WSOP champions.
What McGrath means by their “own generation of WSOP champions” is this: the Million Dollar Poker Club intends to assemble a winning team for the 2009 WSOP by choosing the best among all the players who take advantage of their training opportunities. A MDPC spokesperson explained:
By constantly awarding our players with training opportunities, we aim to have a continuously growing number of players who can potentially win seats into the WSOP. Up to 50 of the players who have won training opportunities through our tourneys and satellites will be chosen to represent us at next year’s WSOP.
The selection process for choosing the Million Dollar Poker Club’s WSOP team will be disclosed closer to the date of next year’s WSOP. For more information visit the Million Dollar Poker Club.
