As one of the original online poker rooms, Paradise Poker has been a mainstay of the Internet poker world since the late 1990s. Even though they have a long history in online poker, Paradise has seen its share of the market fall since they cannot accept American players due to the 2006 passage of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Looking to change that, Paradise Poker is now offering its largest tournament event ever.

The €1,000,000 Guaranteed Tournament, set to take place on December 14th, will not only award a minimum of €200,000 to the first place finisher but will also give out special sponsorships to the rest of the final table; ranging from a €10,000 sponsorship to any of Team Paradise’s live tournament events around the world to a €1500 sponsorship for smaller tournaments for finishing in tenth place. That will add another €32,500 to the prize pool that will be awarded.

At the time of writing, there is plenty of incentive for people to get into the big game: so far there are only 191 runners, which means there will be a huge overlay for all participants unless Paradise meets the cutoff point of 1000 players for the €1000 buy in.  With Paradise Poker giving away the ten Team Paradise Sponsorships worth €32,500 to the top ten in addition to the prize pool, the tournament offers excellent opportunities for players to take part in a top tier live tournament and also to have a shot at winning the top prize.

While the time may be growing short, there are still ways to enter into the €1,000,000 Guaranteed Tournament at Paradise Poker on the cheap side. There are direct Sit & Go satellites for €150 which give the winner a seat in the big event. Direct daily satellites for €50 offer seats for each €1050 generated as well. If you cannot win your way through this manner, the buy in is €1000. Through any of the remaining methods – and with the potential overlay at hand – it will provide an excellent value for the players involved.

Paradise Poker has provided online poker players with action since their inception in 1999, well before the Moneymaker Boom had its effects on the game. In 2004, Paradise Poker was purchased by one of the most prominent sports books around, Sportingbet.com, and continued their excellent service. Other than the €1,000,000 Guaranteed Tournament, Paradise also offers other tournament possibilities of interest.

Although it has been suspended for the month of December due to the €1,000,000 Guaranteed Tournament, Paradise offers a monthly €250,000 Guaranteed Tournament for its players. It also offers seats to two of the most respected tournaments: the 2009 Australian Poker Championships at the Crown Casino in Melbourne (also known as the Aussie Millions), scheduled for the first week in January; and the 2009 Helsinki Freezeout in Finland, scheduled for January 14-17. Satellites for those events are also currently running at Paradise Poker.
