Party Poker gave all their players the chance to fly to Las Vegas and be part of the Premier League IV, which will have a $1.5 million prize pool. As if that did not motivate players enough, they would be playing against well experienced poker players like Phil Hellmuth, Tony G, David Benyamine, JC Tran, Roland de Wolfe, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso and Phil Laak.
The festivities started at the M Resort in Las Vegas and a total of sixteen Party Poker qualifiers and six members of Team Party Poker are fighting for the two spots available at the main event. Each player will receive a certain number of points for their performance at each of the mini qualifying tables and when that round has ended the players with the most points will advance to the final table. The number of points gathered will also determine the amount of chips they will have at the final table where two players will be awarded with the seats to the main event.
The first mini qualifying table included Mike Sexton, Remy Biechel, Ian Frazer, Bodo Sbrzesny, Felipe Ramos and Dragan Galic. The crowds’ favorite was clearly Hall of Famer Mike Sexton, but his time at the table was cut drastically short after he put the majority of his chips at stake while holding K-10 of hearts and the flop ran K-10-9 which gave him two pair, the other player in the hand was Felipe Ramos who bet and then called a check-raise from Mike. There was more money moved to the center of the table when the turn card brought another nine, both players moved nearly all-in and Ramos turned over Q-J for a straight, which left Sexton crippled. Not too long after the previous hand Galic manage to take Mike’s remaining chips.
The second mini round will be played today, and the third and fourth will be played tomorrow to determine the players that will advance to the final table which will be played on Friday.
